Board of Zoning Appeals

Chapter 1115 of the Codified Ordinances establishes an appeal process and a Board of Zoning Appeals. Often referred to as the "BZA," the Board is empowered to grant zoning variances and to hear appeals of zoning and other rulings.

To request a variance or to initiate an appeal, contact the City Building and Zoning Office at 115 Harding Way East, 419-468-2642. The variance application is also available here.

Cease of Work

All work on the project for which you are requesting a variance, must cease pending a final determination by the Board of Zoning Appeals, unless the Building Inspector or the Board determines that the cease of work would cause imminent peril to life or property.

Meetings are held as necessary in the Court/Council Room of the Municipal Building, 301 Harding Way East in Galion.

The following are current members of the Board of Zoning Appeals, each of whom was appointed in January 2015:

Rich Henry (Chairperson)
Marty Cecil
Judy Gibson
Dee Trumpler Volk
Tim Musselman
Natasha Hatfield (Secretary)
